ARKANSAS WOMAN OWNS MULTIPLE BLACK OWNED SALONS providing jobs + opportunities for up & coming stylists & barbers

“Sometimes, we can get so caught up in the work and the busyness of our life that we never take a second to sit back and realize all of the good we have done for ourselves, for our family, for our community, and maybe even the world. And, maybe we should, we deserve that sort of self-love.”

Hey, family. I want to introduce you to someone — someone who is truly trying her best to make this world a better place. Please allow me to introduce Mrs. Adrienne Mackey Tolbert (CEO of Adrienne’s Ultimate U Beauty Salon based out of Central Arkansas)—a true neighborhood hero of the world. A Neighborhood Hero is someone who not only makes the world a better place but uses their platform, voice, resources, and knowledge to leave their community better than they may have found it. Because someone within that community needs a helping hand and deserves some support, and just by that person having access to those things, they can be set up for success too.  And isn’t that the true essence of life itself?

Mackey is someone who embodies every bit of this definition and then some.  She is a mother, a wife, a beautician for the last 30+ years, and the owner of MULTIPLE beauty/barber salons right here in Central Arkansas. And it is quite ironic because being a stylist and business owner was something that she never really considered doing until her parents, who are entrepreneurs themselves, showed her just how important it is to have a skill and a trade in a world that is always in need of ones with such talent(s). Once Tolbert was able to get her hands dirty with relaxers, chemicals, and gel and see how much of an impact she was able to have on a client’s life, not just with her services but with the connection she builds with each and every client — she knew she had found her purpose.

And my question is simple, how have we not heard about this successful black woman?

Apart of it may be Adrienne’s passive and nonchalant attitude and her mindset is more about simply doing the work and not caring for the recognition – but that is why it is so important to have other people in our lives to give us that recognition because sometimes we forget to give it to ourselves. Now, not only has she been providing spaces for men, women, and even children to come to feel seen, valued, and to embrace their beauty for 3 decades, but more importantly, she is also providing opportunities & jobs for tens of hundreds of the next generation of barbers, stylists, estheticians, makeup artists, and anyone else within the beauty realm. There are a number of reasons why she is so passionate about her companies and being able to provide these opportunities for others. The main one is that she understands how amazing it feels to be able to walk in purpose. She wants others to be able to experience that within this industry, and she also understands how difficult it is to find support, mentorship, and guidance on how to be successful within a world that, at times, can be self-centered and downright harsh. Tolbert has chosen to use her platform for good and deserves her flowers for that alone.

WANT TO PARTNER/WORK WITH ADRIENNE?

Because of Tolbert's Christian & solid foundation in which she was raised -- she has taken those same morals, values, and principles that her father & mother instilled within her and sprinkled them across each salon she invests in & builds. & who wouldn't want to be a part of that? If you are someone within the beauty industry and looking for a place to take your talents where you can be your own boss, have a clean and neat work environment, be connected to a number of key resources, and more then partnering with the Adrienne Ultimate U brand may be the perfect move for you.

FINAL WORDS

When I was interviewing Tolbert – she said something I believe we can all relate to as human beings: "I have been so busy doing the work for the last 30 years -- I never took a step back to see & realize all I've done."

SIDE NOTE: this is your reminder to sit back for a second & acknowledge all you've done even as you continue & strive to do more. And, please remember to surround yourself with people who are willing to give you your flowers because sometimes we forget to do it ourselves.
